Do you do house calls?

Yes. At this time I only do house calls. There is NO extra fee for traveling any half hour distance in or outside the Astoria area. Anything farther than Seaside to the south, Westport to the east, Long Beach and Naselle WA to the north would be a $25.00 extra fee. Please contact me if you have questions.

Why are you doing house calls?

I am doing house calls because maintaining an office is just too cost prohibitive for me; and I just haven’t been able to find a good office space-sharing situation.  Since I am just establishing myself here I am trying to limit the expenses of setting up a practice.

What are your fees?

I have a flat $90/hour rate with a 1 hour minimum and any time over the hour is $30/ 15 minute increments if 45 minutes or less. Any time that is 45 minutes to an hour is still at $90.

I know I am charging less than most docs but since I’m limiting my overhead and not billing insurance I feel I can pass that savings onto my patients.

Do you take insurance?

At this time I do not do insurance billing but I will be happy to supply you with a superbill invoice that you can submit to your insurance carrier. You can check with your insurance to see if naturopathic medicine and acupuncture is covered. I will take credit cards, checks and cash payable after each visit.

Do you see children in your practice?

Absolutely. Although I don’t consider myself a pediatrician I will be happy to see children. I have seen children in my practice but mostly toddlers and older, although I’ve treated my son with homeopathics since he was infant. At 23 y.o., he’s never yet needed antibiotics or any other conventional drug treatment. We can talk about vaccinations if you’d like; that is the parents choice but I don’t vaccinate children myself. I could recommend however precautions to those who do vaccinate and treat any negative affects from them should they arise. Children respond extremely well to homeopathic treatment and other natural medicines and therapies. Please contact me with any questions.

 Do you do counseling?

It is important to realize that health is the balance between body, mind and spirit. My job, as a health facilitator, is to intervene when necessary to balance the body’s energy and move it towards healing. My other job, as a health coach, is to empower the patient to make the necessary effort to change their lives and take control of it rather than to depend on me or any practitioner.

Our life is our own but sometimes it gets off track and/or moving in the wrong direction. As a facilitator I try to get it back on track; and as a coach I try to help get it moving in the right direction, that is  living optimally in body, mind and spirit for better realizing who we are and what we’re meant to be doing with our lives.

Health is about giving the body a chance to heal and understanding what you need to change in your lifestyle or attitude in order to live an optimal and fulfilling life. Counseling then may be a necessary part of that.  I counsel in the context of what’s best for the body as exercise and diet as examples; for the mind in the best way I can help you understand any issues with depression, anxiety or PTSD  using homeopathic remedies and the most appropriate mind/body therapies: and for spirit by my first understanding what role it has played in your life and perhaps trying to help you discover a deeper and more meaningful relationship with it.

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a specialized practice of medicine using small doses of substances which stimulate the body’s energy to heal itself of various acute and chronic illnesses. From the  American Institute of Homeopathy website: “Homeopathy, or Homeopathic Medicine, is the practice of medicine that embraces a holistic, natural approach to the treatment of the sick.  Homeopathy is holistic because it treats the person as a whole, rather than focusing on a diseased part or a labeled sickness.  Homeopathy is natural because its remedies are produced according to the U.S. FDA-recognized Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States from natural sources, whether vegetable, mineral, or animal in nature.

The word Homeopathy, which comes from the Greek, through Latin into English, literally means “like disease”.  This means that the medicine given is like the disease that the person is expressing, in his totality, not like a specific disease category or medical diagnosis. ”

I notice that you do a different kind of massage. What is Koruko?

It’s a name and a massage I’ve created. I have a separate page on this website that talks more about it but basically its a massage that combines Shiatsu, which is really the Japanese term for acupressure massage- pressing various acupuncture points on the body; Cranial-sacral therapy which uses a certain intrinsic rhythm of the body to guide energy towards healing; Acupuncture which is optional and only placed in the ear and/or scalp along with the body massage, so it doesn’t get in the way. In Chinese medicine the ear is a map of the body so the points I use can help treat and balance the whole body while the scalp is also a map but I’ve chosen to use only those points that are for relaxation and mental clarity; Reflexology, another map of the body on the bottom of the feet. I do a thorough massage of the feet as part of Koruko; Polarity, the body has positive and negative areas. I use this technique to equalize the sides of the body and is done at the end of the massage.

What kind of supplements do you provide?

Are they different from Fred Meyer or Natural Grocers?

Yes they are different. Most of my supplements come from companies that specialize in providing naturopathic physicians and acupuncturists the highest quality products on the market and they are typically not available at most retail outlets. BUT I can test supplements you have or those coming from other sources to see if they are suitable for your needs.

How long have you been in practice?

I have been practicing for over 25 years. Previous to living in Astoria, I have lived and practiced in Portland and Gaston, Oregon.
